Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard courts

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his first title for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has endured a torrid year, managing just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in particular - caused him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with former trainer Cervara.

Now training with his coach and his other coach, he has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested three-set win over opponent Moutet.

It is his first trophy after the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt since that period of 2023.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has secured twenty-one championships at 21 different tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my children together, so to get a title is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my child her name, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six finals, featuring in that event previously this season.

The player's defensive strategy and regular emotional displays on court had caused commentators to wonder if his capacity to perform at the top level was over.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and compete aggressively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging opponent, securing 4 of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players traded break points in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his initial tour title, seized the initiative to create a final set.

The opponent defended 4 initial opportunities in a tight deciding set before the Russian won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured the title with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
