Power facilities under attack in Ukraine
Ukraine's power facilities have faced increased strikes in recent weeks

Throughout the evening, Moscow's aerial assaults have led to power cuts in large parts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Nine people were injured while local people in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and faced problems to drinking water, per reports from municipal leaders.

Simultaneously, a minor was fatally injured in a different Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia region in the country's south-east, as reported by regional authorities.

Moscow has intensified attacks on electrical systems over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has demanded "real steps" from partner nations to apply pressure on Russia.

"What's needed is not symbolic gestures but strong steps - from the America, Europe and the major economies - in delivering protection systems and implementing restrictions," he wrote in a online statement.

Officials stated that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and over thirty projectiles struck Ukraine's energy infrastructure, describing such strikes as "premeditated" and against "critical infrastructure" as winter approaches.

The energy minister said Russia was "launching a major assault" and repair crews were working to restore power.

A series of attacks struck energy infrastructure and apartment buildings in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people hurt in the strikes on the city have been transported for medical care, according to municipal representatives.

Regional authorities said the metropolitan region experienced significant strikes throughout the evening. A seven-year-old child lost their life and multiple civilians were hurt.

The strikes come after nights of aerial attacks in the region, sections of which are currently controlled by Russian forces.

All of Ukraine is on alert for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are more difficult to detect.

Authorities told reporters that Moscow was intentionally trying to destroy the electrical infrastructure, with attacks already affecting gas facilities.

Authorities confirmed energy workers and authorities were bracing for more assaults.
